TOUCHSTONE THERAPIES

About Kylie

Hi, I’m Kylie, the Founder and Director of Touchstone Therapies.

I am an experienced psychologist devoted to supporting and empowering adults to reach their potential, reconnect with themselves, and live more authentically. I offer a warm, trauma-informed space where clients feel seen, respected, and supported to do meaningful therapeutic work at a pace that feels right for them.

Who I Work With

I work with adults (18+) across a broad range of presentations, including:

  • Trauma
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (C-PTSD)
  • Anxiety
  • Depression
  • Mood disorders
  • Risk and emotional dysregulation
  • Phobias
  • Low self-esteem
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

My particular areas of passion include supporting the LGBTIQA+ community, women with ADHD, and individuals with a history of developmental or relational trauma.

I also provide psychological assessment of cognitive, adaptive functioning, and learning differences across the lifespan. I enjoy supporting NDIS participants to build confidence, capability, and independence in social and daily living skills, so they can create lives that feel meaningful, connected, and aligned with their values.

MY THERAPEUTIC APPROACH

A holistic, mind–body focused approach

The mind–body connection refers to the powerful relationship between our thoughts, emotions, behaviours, and physical state. Our nervous system, biology, and life experiences all shape how we respond to stress, relate to others, and move through the world.

For many people — particularly those with trauma histories — traditional talk therapy alone is not always sufficient.

I work collaboratively with you to develop a holistic and individualised therapeutic approach that aligns with your goals and nervous system needs. Therapy may include:

  • Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Parts Work and Ego State Therapy
  • Sensory-based and nervous system regulation strategies
  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
  • Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)

Together, we focus on helping your body feel safer, increasing emotional regulation, and building practical strategies to support long-term change.

Trauma & EMDR therapy

When we experience trauma, the brain can store memories differently. It’s as though the brain takes a snapshot of the event — capturing sensory information, emotional distress, and negative beliefs about ourselves (e.g., “I am broken,” “I am unsafe,” “I am unlovable”).

These unprocessed memories can continue to influence how we experience the present. When something reminds us of the trauma — a smell, sound, thought, or situation — the nervous system can react as though the event is happening again. This may show up as hypervigilance, anxiety, emotional flooding, or physical symptoms such as muscle tension, headaches, insomnia, and fatigue.

Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy that supports the brain and body to safely process and resolve traumatic experiences.

EMDR uses bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements) to help shift traumatic memories from the brain’s emotional alarm system into the thinking, reflective parts of the brain. Over time, this allows the memory to be integrated without the same emotional or physical distress — so it can finally be filed away in the past, where it belongs.

I CAN HELP YOU

Referrals & Payment Options

I accept referrals and clients through a range of funding and payment options, including:

  • Mental Health Care Plans
  • Private Health Insurance
  • WorkCover
  • NDIS (Self-Managed and Plan-Managed participants)
  • Private / no-claim sessions

Please note that I am unable to accept NDIA-managed NDIS participants at this time.

Mental Health Care Plans (MHCP)

To access a Mental Health Care Plan, book a long appointment with your GP and discuss the concerns you would like support with. Your GP can then send a referral directly to me.

A MHCP provides a Medicare rebate of $96.65 per session, for up to 10 sessions per calendar year.

Private Health Insurance

You do not need a GP referral to access psychology sessions under Private Health Insurance.

I recommend contacting your health fund to confirm:

  • Whether psychological services are included in your cover, and
  • The rebate amounts available to you.

You may wish to compare your private health rebate with the Medicare rebate available under a MHCP to determine which option is most financially beneficial for you.

WorkCover

I am registered to work with individuals under WorkCover claims.
To commence sessions, please speak with your GP and WorkCover case manager to arrange a referral.

NDIS

I accept Self-Managed and Plan-Managed NDIS participants.

Please bring a copy of your current NDIS plan, your plan manager’s details (if applicable), and any relevant documentation that you feel would be helpful for me to review.  I can not work with NDIA managed participants.

Private / No-Claim Sessions

You are welcome to attend sessions without a referral or claiming option.

Where possible, I am happy to explore the options above with you prior to your first appointment to ensure you are accessing any rebates or financial supports you may be entitled to.
